PIPELINE EMERGENCY OR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY?

PIPELINE EMERGENCY 24-7 HELPLINE – 01827 63708

Reporting an Emergency or Suspicious Activities

If there is an emergency or if you would like to report suspicious activities in the vicinity of the pipeline, please contact BPA immediately.

What is an emergency?

If you feel there is an  emergency in relation to the high pressure oil pipeline, please call BPA immediately on 01827 63708.  An emergency can include, but is not exclusive, to any of the following:

  • If you can see or smell fuel in the vicinity of the pipeline
  • If you think you may have accidentally struck or damaged a pipeline while digging, drilling or ploughing
  • If you see unauthorised people digging or operating machinery near to a pipeline

Identifying unusual or suspicious activities

We’d ask that all landowners or occupiers remain vigilant as to an unusual activity undertaken by people or vehicles near to the pipeline.  If in doubt, simply call us on 01827 63708 and we will do the rest.

When making a call

To help manage the calls and to provide the most effective response, we’d ask where possible that callers provide the following information:

  • A contact number should we need to get hold of you
  • The location of the incident – whether a postcode, address or grid reference or even the proximity to a landmark
  • Have the emergency services been contacted?
  • Has anyone been injured?
  • Is there any sign of smoke or fire?
  • Are there still suspicious people or vehicles in the area?
  • Are there any obvious signs or oil or gas leaking?
  • Is there a strong smell of fuel or gas?
  • Is there any obvious damage to the pipeline or site?
  • Is the incident near to a watercourse or public highway?
  • When did you discover it?

Even if you’re unable to answer the above, please still contact BPA and let us know of any concerns.
